There is something magical happening on the 2011 Zimtu Road Trip through several European cities. The trip started in Hamburg with ten companies presenting to investment bankers. From there it was as short flight to Zurich and that’s where the magic of the tour began. The group of about 30 was met at the airport by a luxury bus complete with colorful Zimtu signage. Going on the bus to the Park Hyatt for today’s meeting there were stares and, as we arrived, cheers. Has a circus come to town? Maybe it has.

The sense of excitement spread to the bankers and investors as they stopped to check the bus out before entering the hotel. Today’s sessions were well received by the 80 or so who turned out. Chris Berry of Discovery Investing was host for the day, giving his thoughts on the gold, copper, potash and coal. Thom Calandra set a good tone with a slide show of the many exploration sites he has visited over the past few months. Thom, a prolific and brilliant writer, brought the point home that there is excitement happening around the world with Canadian juniors. You can catch his columns at Stockhouse.com

The audience was Canadian savvy. Eugene Sirianni, who called Vancouver home for a few years prior to setting up his financial management company in Lugano, Switzerland 20 years ago,, said, “reality is, that the juniors have more than suffered. They have hit rock bottom. Right now is the lowest risk entry point to get into the junior market.”

It all worked well for the eight companies that presented. But now, it is time to once again board the Zimtu magic bus and carry on to Geneva.
